Google Play Music family plan now available, $14.99 gets 6 people unlimited streaming + YouTube Red

Having announced its intention to do so earlier this year, Google is now rolling out its up-t0-6 person family plan for its popular music streaming service. Starting today, you can sign up to the Google Play Music family plan for .99 per month and you and your family can listen to as much music as you like without ads. Over the next few days, Android devices in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, France and Germany should see the option to sign up become available in the Play Music app.

YouTube adds paid Super Chat messages for live streams, discontinues Fan Funding

With live streams being a popular way for internet stars to communicate with fans, YouTube has announced a new way to monetize them. European Commission plans to make YouTube pay more to musicians and labels

The European Commission has proposed changes to copyright laws that would require video sites like YouTube to pay more to musicians and music labels, reports the BBC. It follows a plea by more than 1000 artists – among them Lady Gaga and Coldplay.

The draft directive will also require publishers and producers to tell performers or authors what profits their works have generated. The music industry has long criticised YouTube for failing to pay enough for content such as music …

YouTube launches its first original series’ and movies, featuring PewDiePie, Lilly Singh, AwesomenessTV and Rooster Teeth

YouTube has launched its first original movies and series’ exclusively for YouTube Red subscribers. In an aim to compete with the likes of Amazon and Netflix, YouTube has decided to play the subscription game, and give its paying subscribers a selection of content just for them. The first videos are now live, and have been developed in conjunction with some of the company’s best stars; Lilly Singh, Rooster Teeth, PewDiePie and AwesomenessTV.

How to watch Trump’s inauguration live on YouTube, Android, Chrome OS, and Android TV

Today is the 2017 Presidential inauguration for President-elect Donald Trump and there are many ways to watch the events unfold live on your Android phone, Chrome OS laptop, or Android TV. Merger of YouTube Red and Google Play Music confirmed by YouTube’s music head

Back in February, Google combined their YouTube and Play Music teams in order to “deliver the best possible product.” That move widely suggested that Google was working on a single music service to greatly simplify their offering. Today, that merger was officially confirmed by YouTube’s head of music.
