With no clear successor on the horizon, ZTE Axon 7 is no longer being manufactured

Typically when a device reaches its end-of-life point, we either already have a successor announced, or even already have it on the market. However, well over a year after its initial debut, the ZTE Axon 7 has been out of stock for months with nothing in the pipeline (that we know of), and now the company has seemingly confirmed it’s no longer making the phone.

Google is reportedly still working on a standalone mixed reality Daydream successor

A report from Recode a few days ago said that a project in Google X to create a “high-end standalone” VR headset was recently cancelled in favor of more focus on Android — and, specifically, the Mountain View company’s new Daydream platform. Now, another report (via Engadget) says that Google is indeed still working on a standalone headset, albeit one “that blurs the line between virtual reality and augmented reality.”

ASUS may have a true successor to the original Chromebook Flip on the way w/ the ‘Flip C101’

ASUS gave us a treat earlier this year with its new convertible Chromebook, the C302. In many ways, this was the improved convertible Chromebook we had been waiting for after the company’s first attempt in the original Chromebook Flip. However, it wasn’t a true successor. Now, though, it seems like the company may have one of those on the way…

New ASUS Chromebook pops up on Newegg for $499, possibly a successor to the Chromebook Flip

Even with Andromeda potentially on the horizon, we’re still looking at some awesome things in the Chrome OS world. Android apps are slowly making their way to current Chromebooks, new models have recently hit the market, and even more are on the horizon. Huawei trademarks ‘Huawei 7P’ hinting at possible Nexus 6P successor

We’re pretty big fans of the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, even arguing at one point earlier this year that it was the best Android device available. Now, if a trademark filing is any indication, Huawei appears to be planning some sort of successor to the device as the company this month has filed for a new trademark for a device named the “Huawei 7P” (via Phandroid).

Bug report suggests that LG is manufacturing rumored Pixel XL successor ‘taimen’

A report earlier today suggested that Google shelved “muskie” — the presumed Pixel XL successor — in favor of a another rumored device codenamed “taimen.” After digging into the Android Issue Tracker, we now have reason to believe that LG might be the manufacturer of this larger phone.
