Truecaller to be pre-installed on Huawei phones for improved caller ID and spam protection

Truecaller and Huawei have today announced (via TechCrunch) that a new partnership between the two companies will bring Truecaller’s caller ID and spam protection to Huawei’s smartphones. This deal applies for devices in regions such as the US, Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and India. It will debut on the recently launched Honor 8.

Google’s phone app will now warn about potential spam callers

No one enjoys getting random, unwanted phone calls, especially on their mobile phone. Thankfully Google is doing something about it, at least for Nexus and Android One users. As long as caller ID is enabled on your device, Google will now give you a clear warning if an incoming call is potentially a spam call.

Google, AT&T, Apple and others working with FCC to combat robocall phone spam

AT&T chairman Randall Stephenson will soon announce that a consortium of 33 companies, including Google, AT&T, Apple and Comcast are joining the FCC in an effort to crack down on phone call spam made by robots, according to Reuters. In the inaugural “Robocall Strike Force” meeting, the companies will announce their initial plans on how to stop US phone owners from receiving advertorial spam run by automated machines …

Gmailify adds Gmail’s spam filtering, inbox organization, Google Now cards to third-party email accounts

Starting with Android Lollipop, users could use the Gmail app to manage their Outlook or Yahoo email addresses instead of a rarely updated and generic email app. Now, those users will have the option to get access to more advanced Gmail features like spam protection and inbox organization with a new feature called Gmailify.

When social media comes to mind you probably think about Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or Instagram. The butt of the joke with social media, though, has long been Google+. You’ve probably heard dozens of times that it’s a “dead” platform, but six years later to the day it’s still chugging along.

Google+ getting improvements to UX, spam control, & moderation in coming months

For those that actually use Google+, its flaws aren’t exactly a secret. The site is plagued with spam, and many still haven’t adjusted to the relative sluggishness of its new web interface. And, with the recent refocus on Communities, Collections (and most recently, Topics), the site in general is getting somewhat confusing to anyone but seasoned G+ veterans (of which there aren’t many).

Now, one Google+ Engineering Manager Leo Deegan has come out on Google+ (appropriately) to let us know that Google is aware of the network’s flaws and is working on a variety of improvements.
