Kodi on Android TV will add recommendation tiles and voice search in ‘Leia’ [Video]

Android TV is a popular platform for using Kodi since it’s incredibly easy to install and to keep updated. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t take advantage of the platform as many other apps do with features such as voice search. However, that will soon change in the next major release of Kodi, as it will be adding both voice search and recommendations.

Wikipedia app update adds ‘Search Wikipedia’ option when selecting text in Marshmallow

In addition to improving cut/copy/paste, the redesigned text selection pop-up in Android 6.0 Marshmallow allows developers to take advantage of the new contextual selection feature. The Wikipedia app has been updated so that when text is selected there is now an option to ‘Search Wikipedia’.

Google Search now lists whether you can borrow ebooks from your local library

The public library continues to be a wonderful resource, with many adapting to this day and age with various digital resources. As such, many offer ebooks in addition to their traditional counterparts. Google is now helping surface these online versions by showing ebooks that are available to borrow from your library.

Apple shifts Siri and Spotlight search from Microsoft’s Bing to Google on iOS and macOS

It looks like Siri and Google are friends again and Bing is in the rear view mirror. In a major shift, Apple is changing its search results provider for Siri and Spotlight on iOS and macOS from Microsoft’s Bing to the vastly more popular Google.

TechCrunch says the change has started to roll out today (it’s also live for me) and should be in effect for all users by the end of the day. For users, this means Siri and Spotlight will now provide the same search results as Safari by default (and in a lot of cases show better search results).
