Google’s G Suite adds action items, advanced voice commands, Slack integration for Drive, & more

Google is today updating its G Suite of apps, formerly known as Google Apps for work, with a handful of new productivity features. Among them, users will get access to new advanced voice commands, Slack integration for Google Docs and Drive, and a handful of other new features for collaboration with forms, Docs, Sheets and Slides.

As for the new voice commands, G Suite will now offer a number of new commands for formatting text including changing text color, deleting words, inserting links and comments. Google has a full list of newly supported commands here.

Yahoo releases redesigned Mail app for Android w/ Outlook, Hotmail, AOL Mail integration

Yahoo is rolling out an update to its Mail app for Android that introduces a refreshed design, as well as new features including smarter search, contacts management and rich compose. Gboard 6.5 beta adds sticker integration w/ Bitmoji & others, keyboard & themes tweaks

The latest Gboard beta is rolling out this evening with a number of new features for the Google keyboard. Version 6.5 most signficantly adds sticker integration with apps like Bitmoji, while slightly redesigning several keys as well as the Themes settings page.

New Uber integration lets you book & track rides without leaving Google Maps

Hands-on with native Google Now integration in Nova Launcher [Video]

Google Now Launcher has long been one of the only ways to access your Google Now feed directly from the home screen, thanks to a rule restricting apps on the Play Store from using the service’s API. Google Home users are starting to see Netflix and Photos integration options

Update: Google has made these updates official on its blog.

Google is currently trying to sell people on the idea of a world in which everything can be controlled by their voice. To do this, though, they have to convince customers to purchase their 0 Google Home with built-in Assistant. Just three days ago, Google launched Actions which will allow third-party developers to start integrating their services into Google Assistant.

Based on what we’re seeing now, it would appear that Netflix and Google Photos are the first to take full advantage of this opportunity…
