Samsung Galaxy S7 dummy and press render leaks suggest gray and gold models incoming

A couple of fresh leaks this morning suggest the Samsung Galaxy S7 range will see a return to a more traditional color scheme. A press render from oft-reliable Evan Blass reveals a dark gray model, while a retail dummy phone unit leaked by Pisapapeles shows a gold version of the device.

TENAA listing shows ZTE is about to launch another high-performance Android phone, AXON 2 incoming?

Last year, ZTE surprised us a little when it launched its Axon smartphone series. The Axon Pro, in particular, punched above its price point with a spec list that could make any tech fan’s eyes water (with tears of joy, naturally). It was one of the first devices to come with 4GB RAM, it had a QHD screen and was powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor. This year, it seems ZTE is going to refresh the range with a more premium look.

Samsung IFA press event invitation once again suggests a Gear S3 smartwatch incoming

We’ve known for months that Samsung has a refresh to its Gear S line coming at IFA, but now it’s all but confirmed. Following a couple of reports from SamMobile this week detailing some features the watch(es), the Korean company is now sending out invitations to its event at IFA 2016. LG registers ‘G5 SE’ trademark, smaller device incoming or just Apple-inspired naming?

As many of you will undoubtedly know, Apple recently unveiled and launched the iPhone SE. Essentially, it’s an iPhone 6s inside the iPhone 5’s body with a few exceptions. But it turns out an Android OEM may be planning an ‘SE’ version of its own phones. Trademarks filed by LG suggest the company has been planning a G5 SE since as long ago as December.

Huawei to announce its United States plans on June 2nd, phone launch likely incoming

Huawei has today sent out invites to an event happening on June 2nd, and it looks like this date might mark the first time the Chinese company will launch consumer hardware in North America. According to the invite, the event in New York City is scheduled to show off “what’s new from Huawei” and provide the latest information on the “company’s US strategy.”

4 GB RAM smartphones incoming as Samsung starts production of new memory module

It seems as if smartphone specifications are looking more and more like the desktops of not long ago, and today’s news furthers this phenomenon. Samsung has announced that it has begun production of a LPDDR4 (low power double data rate 4) 8 Gigabit DRAM memory module based in its 20nm process, and says it will be ready by sometime in early 2015. This translates to a chip that’s 4 GB of usable memory, basically double of what most flagship smartphones have today.
