Google is working on a new image format called Pik, as evidenced by a collection of newly-uploaded files on the company’s official GitHub profile. The format, according to the project’s readme file, is a “new lossy image format for the internet.” That’s about all we know about it for the time being.

Samsung Gear Sport spotted on the Gear app store backend revealing 360×360 display, blurry image also leaks

Following yesterday’s announcement of the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung confirmed that it would be unveiling a brand new Gear S smartwatch next week at IFA in Berlin. We’ve heard previous murmurings of a Gear S3/Gear Fit 2 combo device in the form of a Gear Sport, and thanks to a sighting on Samsung’s official Gear app store, the upcoming wearable is as good as official.

Leaked ‘Moto Z Play’ image shows a thicker device with a headphone jack

Motorola launched two distinct Moto X variants last year: the flagship Moto X Style (later known simply as “Pure Edition” in the US) and the Moto X Play, which shipped with lesser processor and RAM specs. Later, Verizon and Motorola teamed up to launch another variant at the flagship level: the shatterproof Droid Turbo 2.

With the initial launch of the Moto Z, Lenovo effectively introduced what are the next-gen equivalent of the Moto X Style (the standard Moto Z), and the Droid Turbo 2 (the Moto Z Force). That leaves us with one gap, a replacement for the Moto X Play, and a new image suggests that such a phone is launching soon — and with a headphone jack.
