Hands-on with Action Launcher’s huge June update [Video]

Action Launcher has always been a popular third-party launcher; in fact, I’ve been using it almost exclusively for years. Recently, developer Chris Lacy released the June update, a major overhaul that could make it an even bigger success. The update includes Android O stylization, improved shortcut menus, and more.

Google’s Pixel C tablet gets a huge price cut in the UK, still $599 in the US

It’s been nearly 2 years since Google released a proper tablet. Don’t get me wrong, the Pixelbook is a great machine, but sometimes a tablet is just better at times. I absolutely loved my time with the Pixel C back in the day, but it’s 9 price in 2017 is just ridiculous. Now, Google is giving its only tablet a price cut… at least in the UK.

Samsung using huge Galaxy S8-shaped sculptures to market the device across the UK [Gallery + Video]

One thing about Samsung is for certain, it goes all-in when it comes to marketing. Remember last year’s building-sized, Galaxy S7 edge-shaped billboard in Russia? Yeah, me too. So of course the Korean giant is doubling down on its efforts this year, this time targeting the UK…

Xiaomi’s huge Mi Max is official, 6.44-inch display, 4850mAh battery and 4GB RAM in tow

Xiaomi, this morning, took the wraps off its latest affordable metal-clad flagship. The Mi Max, as the name suggests, is a big phone, but Xiaomi claims it still comfortably fits in a pocket. With its 6.44-inch display, it’s easily the largest phone in the Chinese manufacturer’s lineup and comes with some incredible specs for the sub-0 price.

Samsung Milk VR is a huge library of VR content you can watch without a headset

Samsung’s “Milk” line of apps — if not just because the “Milk” brand is just plain weird — have never been that popular. In fact, even the more-popular-than-most Milk Music is rumored to be on the chopping block. This one, though, might catch the eye of some. Launched yesterday on the Google Play Store, the reason for the app’s existence is to let owners of Samsung phones access Samsung’s huge library of 360-degree video content without a Gear VR headset…

Future Samsung smartphones may have huge 24MP 1/1.7 camera sensors

With the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Samsung created one of the best Android smartphone cameras we’ve used. At least, if you ignore the likes of the Panasonic CM-1 which is more a camera powered by Android than a smartphone. Low-light performance is great, and images come out sharp and full of color. But, if a recent rumor is anything to go by, its future smartphones will make the S7 look like a cheapy disposable camera by comparison.

Galaxy A9 specs leaked, powerful mid-ranger likely to feature huge 4000mAh battery, Snapdragon 620 chip, 1080p screen, more

Just a couple of weeks ago, Samsung officially unveiled its A-series lineup for the next year. The Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 feature respectable specifications and will be sold at prices well below those of the more high end Galaxy S series while retaining the premium metal chassis. But the A-series doesn’t end there. Samsung’s official Weibo account revealed details of yet another Alpha device: The Galaxy A9.

As you’d expect, the A9 is bigger than any of the others. With its 6-inch, full HD AMOLED display, the A9 is easily the biggest of the bunch, perhaps bordering on ‘too big’. The leak also reveals a 13MP camera on the back and 8MP front snapper, as well as a huge 4,000mAh battery. While not in the same territoriy as the behemoth 10,000mAh battery in the Oukitel K10000, it should still be easily enough to get most users through two days on a full charge.

SamMobile also pointed in the direction of another leak featuring more of the internal specifications. Those include a Snapdragon 620 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with 3GB, alongside 32GB internal storage. Like the the other A-series phones, it also has a fingerprint sensor and Samsung Pay support. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, although an update to Marshmallow is expected. Samsung is likely to announce the new Galaxy A9 a little later this month. If all that pre-release info wasn’t enough, there’s a video showing off the A9 and A7 side-by-side.

Hands-on: Samsung Galaxy S7 active – a tough shell meets a huge battery [Video]

Over the last fews days, I’ve had the chance to use the Samsung Galaxy S7 active as my daily driver. Like the previous entry into the “active” line, it’s the rugged version of Samsung’s current flagship, the Galaxy S7, and is an AT&T exclusive.

With this in mind, sleek design and visual appeal take a back seat to durability, battery life and tactile response. If you’re a Samsung fan who’s constantly subjected to harsh, rugged environments and terrain, then the Galaxy S7 active is the version of company’s flagship efforts that you’d be wise to consider.
