Samsung had a few taunts of its own after Apple’s iPhone 6s, iPad Pro event last night

Leading up to Apple’s eagerly anticipated keynote presentation last night, Sony had a jab prepared for the iPhone-makers before they unveiled the iPhone 6s, Apple TV and iPad Pro. It seems, however, Sony wasn’t the only manufacturer attempting to rain on Apple’s parade. Moto Z registered as trademark with possible announcement at June 9th event

The only confirmed launch from Lenovo’s Tech World event on June 9th is a consumer Project Tango-enabled smartphone. An invite from the reliable MotoHK now also points to a reveal of the next Moto flagship at the event. Furthermore, the Moto Z trademark has just passed (via Droid Life) the US Patent Office.

Here’s everything we expect to see at Google’s October 4th event

According to Google’s Android SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer, the company’s upcoming October 4th event — which, yes, is just a few days away now — is going to be something to go down in the Googley history books. According to him, “8 years from now we’ll be talking about Oct 4, 2016.” That comes in a tweet where he reflects on the fact that 8 years ago, Google announced the very first version of Android.

So Google thinks this event is going to be a big deal, and with such strong words coming straight from the mouth of Android’s SVP, we’re inclined to believe it. But what is Google planning to announce? We know almost for a fact that they’re planning some consumer-facing “Made by Google” smartphones, but what else could the Mountain View company have up its sleeve for next week?…

Google briefly published (then unpublished) an I/O 17 Google Home action for basic event info

Google I/O is just around the corner and for those who aren’t lucky enough to be going, Google has plenty of options to tune in. It will offer up live streams for major events, and of course, 9to5Google will be there to bring you all the latest news and more from the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Along with those, though, Google also seems to have plans for a Google Home app for I/O 17, and it briefly went live early…

Samsung’s Unpacked event is kicking off at 11 AM ET [Livestream]

In case you’re out of the loop, Samsung is announcing a couple of new devices at its Unpacked event today. Honor today has sent out invites to CES 2016 party/event during which it will detail the “creative and smart technology that will offer superior mobile internet experiences to natives all over the world.” Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, is responsible for devices like the Honor 5X and Honor 7.
