As we noted in a past teardown of the Google app, IFTTT integration was in the works for Assistant. That functionality has now popped up on one of our devices, and it allows users to easily make new commands and manage existing ones.
Google Maps is a service we all use almost daily, but a lot of work goes into making it as great as it is. Lately, Google has been pushing users into its Local Guides program which lets them “level up” by writing reviews, uploading pictures, and adding/editing places on Maps. To help those users better do those tasks, the company has today added the ability to sort saved places into lists within the mobile app.

Snapseed is adding several new features in version 2.16 for Android and iOS. Notably, the photo editor now allows you to save multiple edits as their own filter for easier application and even sharing. Android-specific features include new tutorials and updated Perspective and Selective tools.
Offline video is one of the main benefits of a YouTube Red subscription. In developing countries, downloads are actually available for free as a means to work around connectivity issues. Now YouTube is rolling out a new Smart Offline feature in India that downloads videos during late night hours when carriers offer discounted data.
Update: In a blog post, Google details new features currently available in English and rolling out soon to other languages. Now on Tap now officially works in the camera app and for images. For instance, users can open the camera app and initiate Now on Tap to identify landmarks. It can also be used in apps like Pinterest to identify artwork.
Rolled out last night to all users, Now on Tap has a new interface and the ability to manually select text from anything in a screenshot to perform a search. Due to a number of factors, Now on Tap has yet to become a hit feature and today’s update is a meaningful change to the product.
